The following are highlights of the 2001-2002 Roundtable Luncheons and activities that were made possible with the support of the Friends:

LUNCHEONS

The Roundtable's 22nd year as Albany's civic lunch forum had a full schedule of timely and distinguished presentations on subjects including air and train travel, the Hudson River, biomedical research and local manufacturing.

Nancy Gold, owner of Tough Traveler, and Thomas J. Marusak, President of Comfortex Corporation, gave the October luncheon audience first hand looks at how these two local business leaders succeed with localmanufacturing in very competitive global economy.

Wally W. Altes shared his thoughts with the Roundtable in November as retiring President of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and leading the Chamber to unparalleled growth since 1990.

Jennifer Krausnick from the Center for Economic Growth led the January Roundtable audience on a multi-media DVD guided "Virtual Tour" of what our part of the Hudson River would like with an array of possible improvements.

Mayor Gerald Jennings continued in February our more than two decade old tradition of sharing his thoughts on the state of the city and what to look forward to in the coming year.

John Egan, leader of the Albany Airport Authority, reported in March on the impacts of 9/11 on Albany International Airport as well as on expansion plans.

President James L. Gozzo of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Richard C. Liebich from the Charitable Leadership Foundation talked in April about exciting initiatives for expanding biomedical research in University Heights including the development underway for a new Center for Medical Science.

Jack Reilly from the Capital District Transportation Authority brought the Roundtable audience in May a preview of what the Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak train station will look like when the final touch are completed.
