His in-depth newspaper projects have won a number of local, state and national journalism awards including the Scripps Howard National Journalism Award; more than a dozen New York State Associated Press writing contest awards; and the Hearst Eagle Award, the highest recognition for a reporter in the Hearst Corporation. The author of four books, including Mayor Corning: Albany Icon, Albany Enigma (Washington Park Press, 1997), Grondahl was named Albany Author of the Year in 1997 by the Albany Public Library. He has been featured on C-SPAN's "About Books" and "Book TV."
His newest project, JournalismTours.com, provides a fresh and dynamic multimedia experience for aspiring photographers and journalists seeking field experience as well as fans of documentary films. In collaboration with photographer Steve Jacobs, Grondahl recently released a commemorative DVD of the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. He will show an excerpt of the video at the luncheon, and copies will be available for purchase for $10.
